Abstract

In the New World Order South East Europe has proven to be the most turbulent part of the Old Continent which was affected by various challenges to stability and security, ranging from hard to soft security. With the end of the bipolar division of the world all the countries from the region set NATO membership as their main foreign priority. According to the variety of their historical, cultural, religion and ethnic heritage, as well as the levels of transitional changes and specific circumstances which they were effected by (military conflict), there is a diversification going on between the countries caused by different level of their institutional relations with the North Atlantic Alliance. This complicates the setting up of the new system of security and stability in South East Europe as well as creating Europe, whole, free, secure and democratic
