Abstract

Climate change is becoming increasingly significant and causes risks in beekeeping. The increase in temperature and the occurrence of natural disasters affect the development of the beekeeping sector. The paper aims to show the impact of climate change on beekeeping farms. The applied gross margin calculation will be calculated per hive. The annual production of honey on the farm was defined as a risk variable, and changes in total income were measured. The research was conducted through an in-depth interview in the area of Sisak. The results will be presented in the form of a case study. The results show that the gross margin per hive is 143.50 HRK. Due to the reduction of hives in 2021 compared to 2012, honey production and beekeepers’ revenue decreased by 44%. Finally, the paper will propose possible strategies for the farm against the negative impacts of climate change.
