Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we live and conduct business, resulting in a global crisis. However, the effects of the crisis did not affect everyone equally, and the reason for this lies in the quality of the strategic planning of the organisation as one of the key functions of management. At the heart of the interest lies organisational resilience as the most important tool of business planning. The crisis caused by the rapid spread of an unknown type of virus served as a detector of the resilience of many organisations, revealing the everyday strengths and weaknesses of the existing organisational structure, but also pointing to the vulnerability of the existing organisational culture. Work from home, isolation, complying to epidemiological measures, fear and pervasive uncertainty have not bypassed the journalistic profession. It is a major organisational and professional challenge in an industry where any delay results in the loss of audience and market, but also causes additional stress for media workers who, along with many emergency services employees, were on the "front line" of encounters with the virus on a daily basis. The objectives of the empirical part of the paper, using the qualitative method of in-depth interview on a convenience sample, are to investigate the role of strategic planning in creating and strengthening the organisational resilience of leading Croatian media organisations during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, the paper strives to analyse the role of leaders in crisis situations, examine the challenges of producing media content during the global pandemic, and determine the importance of human resource management in media organisations. The purpose of the paper is to provide insight into changes in the media as the most important social corrective during the global pandemic, but also in the journalistic profession, which has been facing serious challenges that have been threatening its survival for a long time.
