Abstract

Libraries as institutions should provide quality and reliable information to children and young people, and thus contribute to their growth and development. This can be achieved through free access to literature, as well as sharing content on social media, which, whether we admit it or not, is perhaps the most informative today because it is available at any time, regardless of whether the user is in a waiting room, public transport, on the street or at home. During 2021, The public library of Beli Manastir made great efforts to organize virtual events and motivate users to follow library content on social media. While designing the program, librarians were guided by the idea that in the years when young people discover life, reading can be one of the things that helps them think and critically analyze. This paper presents how digital video content can be implemented into existing content on social media and there for intrigue and encourage reading or independent learning of something new, primarily for the youngest, and then for all others interested. Furthermore, this paper will show the educational role of social media based on the program designed during the mentioned period.
