Abstract

Kutjevo wine region is one of the most famous localities of grape and wine production in Croatia. The aim of the article is to present the condition, problems and challenges of the winegrowers in the vineyard of Kutjevo. For this purpose, an interview was conducted with three winemakers of different sizes, production and market orientation. Winemakers agree that the high quality of grapes and wine from the Kutjevo wine region is its main advantage. Most of the sales are generated in the HoReCa sector, especially in the summer months on the Adriatic coast. They consider the shortage of labour as one of the problems and see rural tourism as an effective upgrading of their wine business. The coronavirus pandemic caused a significant drop in sales. Climatic changes are manifested in the form of increasingly frequent weather events that cause mechanical damage in the vineyard.
