Abstract

Discrimination is a continuous problem in the labour market and progressive society, which affects all legally prohibited aspects and results in a negative stimulus to the victim's working relationship in her business and private life. The paper deals with two aspects of that issue: legislative and comparative. In the positive-legal part, the current legislative situation is provided. The author presents his view of a potential solution to the problematic issue related to the normative framework through a comparative analysis with Iceland, one of the most advanced countries in terms of respect for women's rights. The author emphasizes the statistical data that confirm the discrimination of women from the independence of the Republic of Croatia to the present day in all spheres of society, starting from broad-encompassing activities to high-state functions. Finally, the author briefly presents de lege ferenda solutions that require immediate action by Croatian legislative and implementing bodies.
