Abstract

Proper characteristics of soil and optimal ecological conditions are not enough for successful pear production. Restrictive factors are climate, sort selection, foundation selection, sort and number of pollinators. When establishing a pear plantation, people neglect the problem of insects' pollination for believe that honeybees will pollinate pears (Apis mellifeara). Fruit producers have to think of other insects usage: bumblebees (Bombus spp.) and solitary bees from Osmia genus (Osmia rufa and Osmia cornuta). Yield and size of the fruit depend on the success of pollination. Lately we witnesses of hormone preparation treatment for pollination.
