Abstract

European Union member states have been granted access to 1,824 billion euros through
national recovery and resilience plans to accelerate economic recovery, alleviate the consequences of the pandemic, and finance programs for digital and green transformation,
sustainable development, and enhancing resilience to future crises. In July 2021, Croatia
adopted the National Recovery and Resilience Plan for the period from 2021 to 2026, based
on strategic documents, programs, and recommendations. In the tourism sector, grants
are aimed at increasing competitiveness by investing in raising standards and creating
high-value products, as well as improving the quality of additional accommodation capacities
towards sustainable, innovative, resilient, and competitive tourism. The paper analyses
measures to strengthen the competitive position in the field of continental tourism using a
case study of hotels in the Bjelovar-Bilogora County.
