Abstract

Culture is a phenomenon that, on the basis of human rationality and therefore the ability for symbolic expression and action, belongs exclusively to humans. In turn, humans can turn their behaviour into communicative action. Communication culture can be understood as respect for ethical values, the presence of personal guidelines approved by society and respect for the criteria of public discussion (Habermas, 1984), which refer to inclusiveness, freedom and autonomy, the equality of all participants, honesty and argumentation. The global public sphere enabled by the Internet has erased the boundaries for the availability of particular and specific media. The lack of a culture of communication on virtual forums, negatively intoned speech, and even hate speech, are often a topic of public discussion, among workers in the media and academia. The aim of this paper is to investigate and identify new cultural paradigms in the digital environment, but also investigate and analyze ethical values that influence the virtual and physical culture of human action and behaviour. In this sense, as a 'case study', attention will be paid to the specific example of sports columns written by the notable Croatian former football player Mario Stanić.
