Abstract

The aim of the paper is to list studies that examine Italian influence and Italianisms in the lexis of Dalmatian dialects, in particular the Chakavian ones. Through a systematic search of bibliographic databases and online repositories of academic studies, as well as by consulting literature related to the Italian language influence and Croatian-Italian language contacts in Dalmatia, 202 studies published in the last one hundred years were listed and analysed. Two lists of studies were created: an alphabetical and a chronological list. Based on the content of the studies, the methodology used and the results of the research, it was concluded that the largest number of studies examine Italianisms and calques created according to the Italian model. The analysed corpora were collected from dialect dictionaries, newspapers, literary works and archival sources, as well as from interviewees and on field research. The corpora were analysed at the etymological, phonological, morphological, lexical and semantic level using methodology from the fields of contact, contrastive, historical and functional linguistics, sociolinguistics, onomastics, glottodidactics and stylistics.
