Summary: On Sacred Leisure in Relation to the Tourist Spirit of Modern Man

Abstract
The article analyzes contemporary tourism. It addresses the multiple dangers of tourism: voyeurism that pollutes a place, branding that destroys local culture, a museum-like spirit that turns cities, churches, and sacred sites into museums — places of non-encounter and loneliness. Christians should resist tourism by simply ceasing to be tourists. In addition, they should develop a counterculture: a culture of stability (immobility, opposition to vacations as they are conceived today), a culture of pilgrimage, and a culture of leisure.
