Abstract

The article analyzes, contextualizes, and evaluates, on the basis of archival and periodical sources, the previously unexplored work of architect, stage designer, sculptor, and industrial designer Ivo Penić, one of the most prominent members of the Studio for Industrial Design and an author whose dynamic engagement across various areas marked the Croatian art scene in the 1950s. Particular attention is devoted to the theoretical and aesthetic concepts he systematically explored throughout his life in Croatia and, following his departure for Belgium in 1959, his affirmation within an international context.
