Abstract

In 2025, Entomologia Croatica, the scientific journal of the Croatian Entomological Society, marked the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of its first volume. The journal was launched in 1994, and its first volume was published in 1995. Over the past three decades, its visual identity, distribution methods, editorial practices, and forms of scientific communication have evolved, from a printed journal distributed through international exchange to an open-access electronic publication. The journal published 313 contributions across 24 volumes, with original research articles representing the largest category, while approximately one-third of the scientific papers included contributions from authors based outside Croatia. The anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect on the journal’s contribution to Croatian entomology, as well as the challenges of its further development within the contemporary system of scientific publishing.
