Abstract

The Croatian Entomological Society (HED), founded in 1974, has over five decades of activity become a central gathering place for Croatian entomologists, professionals, students, and insect enthusiasts, as well as an important contributor to the development of entomology in Croatia. Through its activities, the Society has promoted scientific and professional research, knowledge exchange, international cooperation, the organization of scientific meetings, and the popularization of entomology and biodiversity conservation. A particularly significant contribution to the development of entomology has been made through its publishing activities, especially the launch of the journal Entomologia Croatica in 1995, as well as through the organization of numerous entomological meetings and symposia. Throughout its history, the Society has been led by numerous distinguished Croatian entomologists whose scientific and professional work has significantly contributed to the development of various fields of entomology. The continuity of its activities, the dedication of its members, and the involvement of new generations of researchers confirm the important role of the Croatian Entomological Society in preserving and advancing entomological science and biodiversity conservation in Croatia.
