Abstract

The 6th International Symposium of the Croatian Entomological Society (CES) was held successfully on October 2–3, 2025, in Osijek, Croatia. This landmark event was elevated to the international level, supported and co-organized by the prestigious Royal Entomological Society (RES) of the United Kingdom, alongside leading Croatian academic and research institutions. The symposium also celebrated two major anniversaries: 50 years of the CES
and 30 years of its scientific journal, Entomologia Croatica. Centered on the critical theme “Where have all the insects gone?”, the symposium addressed the alarming global decline of insect populations in the Anthropocene (estimated at 1–2% annually for terrestrial species). Organized into three thematic sections (Monitoring and Biodiversity Conservation; Vectors – Ecology, Education and Control; Pests in Agriculture and Forestry), the event underscored the urgent need for interdisciplinary collaboration among entomologists. This review provides
a comprehensive summary of the symposium, scientific findings, and future directions for insect conservation and management.
