Abstract

The research has been conducted upon the authochthonous pomegranate species called Glavaš and Paštrun that were grown in West Hercegovina. The quality of the fruit was analysed by the pomological parameters (fruit width and lenght, fruit weight and
aril weight, 100 aril weight, randman of arils, juice content, peel thickness, calyx lenght and diameter) and chemical analyses (total soluble solids, titrable acidity, pH, K+ and NO3 - content) and
fruit skin colour. The given resultsshow that there were significant
differences between the cultivars. The 'Glavaš' fruits had the highest fruit weight, aril weight, titrable acidity, pH and K+ .The results imply that pomegranate cultivars Glavaš and Paštrun have sour taste and they are suitable for juice production.
