Problemi sjevernog Jadrana is a journal published by the Institute for Historical and Social Sciences of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU) in Rijeka, with its local unit in Pula. The journal publishes research articles, professional papers, reviews, and commentaries in the fields of the humanities and social sciences, including history, philology, archaeology, ethnology and anthropology, philosophy, theology, art history, art studies, religious studies, interdisciplinary humanities, economics, law, political science, information and communication sciences, sociology, demography, and interdisciplinary social sciences. The journal primarily focuses on topics related to the northern Adriatic region of Croatia, particularly western Croatia (Istria, the Kvarner Littoral, Gorski kotar, and Lika). All submissions undergo a peer-review process involving two independent reviewers. In the case of conflicting evaluations, the Editorial Board may decide to send the manuscript to a third reviewer. Manuscripts lacking in content or value are rejected without being sent to reviewers. The final decision on publication is made by the Editorial Board in cooperation with the relevant Department of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The journal is published in both print and open-access electronic formats and is distributed in Croatia and internationally. Problemi sjevernog Jadrana is indexed in the Scopus database.
