Essehist is a journal written and edited by the students of history from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek whose first editor in chief was Luka Pejić. The main purpose of the journal is to encourage students to research, write, and publish their works. Its name was coined by Marko Bagić and it is the acronym of "Esseg" (old German name for Osijek) and "historia". Each issue is theme-based.
