Sažetak
Doing business with a high level of social responsibility represents one of basic strategies in maintaining a balance between realization of economic interests, social development, environment protection and preservation of natural resources. The orientation of the European Union, clearly marked through the actions of the European commission, is shown in the fact that doing business with a high level of social responsibility makes an essential element of the European social model and that it positively contributes to the European strategy of the maintained development being agreed in Goteborg in 2001. It also refers to the goals being adopted in Lisbon. Countries which economically cooperate with the European Union or which are in the process of coming forward to the European integrations, are expected to adopt principles and standards of doing business with a high level of social responsibility. An obstacle to improving the corporative environment among the countries in transition is represented by distrust between the government, business and civil society. It is contributed by political instability and division existing in the society as well as by a doubtful way of forming the private sector after the war years and general economic collapse.
