Abstract

It has been shown that the two-body correlation function which minimizes energy has, for small interatomic distances, the form u2 ~ - In r2 + (a/r)5, in the low density limit in the approximation of the hard spheres. Furthermore, it has been established that in the same limit the Wu-Feenberg-Ljolje two-body function yields minimum energy for the Majtland-Smith potential and in comparison with Lennard-Jones potential is better for 9%. It has also been found out that the influence of the triplet correlations in this model is negligible, and that the three-particle potential gives a contribution greater than zero and smaller than 0.6% with regard to the two-body potential.
