Sažetak
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of defoliation management (A- frequent defoliation – defoliation at 18 cm herbage
height; B - moderate frequent defoliation – A+6 days and infrequent defoliation – A+12 days) on the dry matter (DM) yield and the
botanical composition of the pure stands of orchardgrass, meadow fescue and tall fescue. A specific reaction of the investigated grass
species on the defoliation management was found for DM yield (P<0.05). The differences in relative share of grasses (P<0.05) and
forbs (P<0.05) in DM yield among the defoliation managements were dependent on year. The significant differences between grass
species were found for relative share of grasses (P<0.001) and forbs (P<0,001) in the DM. The results indicate the importance of the
decision about appropriate defoliation management for different forage grass species.
