The possibility of implementation the principles of the corporate culture and corporate governance in the business strategy of the academic libraries

Sažetak
Academic libraries have been recently exposed to the uncertainty brought by initiative for changes in the definition of their position in the institutions of which are the part of. The response to changes in the function of achievement their mission and vision, as well as meeting the expectations of the scientific and social community, could be a strategy focusing on the establishment and implementation of the corporate culture in the academic libraries, which would start from the best practices and principles of corporate governance. This paper is based on the strategic positioning of academic libraries that is defined on the legislative and regulatory basis, the position within the university library system and the position within the institution which is the part of. The possibility of establishing a corporate culture as an instrument to achieve better use of all the resources of the library, with implementation of relevant principles of corporate governance, especially in the area of business ethics and socially responsible behaviour is being examined. The purpose of establishing congruence is initiating the development of strategy of academic libraries and further discussions in that direction.
