Sažetak

The aim of the work is the etymological analysis and presentation of some
loanwords of Dalmatian origin or variants based on Dalmatian lexical morphemes
in the speech of Betina on the island of Murter, which are part of a corpus of 560
lemmas, of which 300 are of Romance origin. The presented corpus was collected
during field research in Betina in 2008, 2009 and 2010 from the older generation
of speakers, followed by etymological and lexicological analysis of loanwords. All
lemmas were checked in the relevant etymological dictionaries, and by the method
of elimination, i.e. by not confirming the form in the sources of the Venetian dialect
or Italian language followed by an analysis at the formal and semantic level, we
assumed an older, i.e. pre-Venetian origin of the foreign words. The research indicated
a small share of Dalmatian elements in the total corpus because Betina does
not traditionally belong to the Dalmatian language area because it is considered that
this area was Slavicized long before the linguistic individualization of Dalmatian.
The analyzed terms of Dalmatian origin mainly belong to fishing and maritime terminology
and mostly refer to the names of types of fishing nets.
