The Ancient History Module as Part of the Graduate History Program in the Academic Years 2008/09 to 2022/23 (Summary)

Sažetak
Following the implementation of the Bologna Process, the Department of History at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (University of Zagreb) introduced an Ancient History module as part of its graduate History program in the academic year 2008/09. It aims to enable students to refine their knowledge and specialize in ancient history research. The paper presents the module’s courses and teaching activities, along with a statistical overview of the students’ profiles. That is followed by an analysis of MA thesis topics, as well as students’ interests in areas like epochal-civilizational segments, global or local ancient history, and various historical sub-disciplines. The research also includes the engagement of teachers as mentors, student success in completing the program, and employment data for graduates of the module. Ultimately, the paper aims to provide insight into the success and relevance of the Ancient History module in the context of the 150th anniversary of the Department of History at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb.
