Sažetak

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, plums have great economic and social significance. Among of fruit crops, they have retained their leading position to this day. A large number of family farms generate significant income from the production, processing and trade of plums. Its fruits are characterized by their versatile use, because in addition to being used fresh and dried, they are suitable for processing into compotes, jams, preserves, marmalades, juices, as well as for the production of brandy. Plum growing in these regions has a long tradition, and since 1969, the event “Plum Day” has been held in Gradačac. For many years, the leading variety was Požegača, but in the last few decades, the plum assortment has been significantly expanded and adapted to the market.
