Sažetak
The learning society requires the possession of functional skills that will support individuals in facing the challenges of the coming age. One such skill is creativity. Creativity is a necessary for socio-economic and spiritual evolution; survival, progress and well-being of individuals and society. In this regard, there is a generally accepted point of view according to which noticing, awakening and encouraging the creative peculiarities of students is among the most important goals of modern education. There are high expectations and demands from educational systems to contribute to the development and cultivation of students’ creative aspirations. However, the findings of a large number of studies that confirm that creativity is not significantly woven into teaching practices, that is, according to which the current educational reality is considered a barrier to the promotion of creativity, are worrying. Although there is no shortage of works on (pedagogy of) creativity, it seems that it remains insufficiently clarified how to make changes to the methodical structure and welcome opportunities for creative teaching. The aim of this paper is to map and analyze the assumptions crucial for building a culture of creativity in the school environment. The review of the literature established the need to change several settings regarding creative teaching; demystification of the phenomenon of creativity, advocacy for a pragmatic approach in which creativity is recognized as a dynamic construct, active engagement of students - involvement in social constructivist activities, encouragement of divergent thinking and leading students to academically and ethically acceptable creative expressions.
