Sažetak
This paper analyses the linguistic features of a manuscript preserved in the collection Ostavština Šime Starčevića (Legacy of Šime Starčević), catalogued under the reference B7 and belonging to the group Vjerska Djela (Religious Works, B). The manuscript, entitled Gercsko Odcipljenje (Greek Schism), consists of twenty folios. As the manuscript is neither signed nor dated, the primary aims of this study were to confirm that the author of the manuscript is Šime Starčević, a Croatian priest and grammarian, and to determine the approximate time of its creation. The analysis focuses on the manuscript’s graphemic, orthographic, and grammatical features. On the basis of the linguistic analysis, the authorship of Gercsko Odcipljenje is attributed to Šime Starčević, while the manuscript itself is dated to the final phase of his scholarly activity, around 1850. The paper provides new insights into the manuscript legacy of Šime Starčević, particularly his devotional writings, and contributes to a more precise understanding of the development of his linguistic conception and normative solutions in the later stages of his work.
