Hercegovina. Journal of Cultural and Historical Heritage is an open-access scholarly journal that publishes previously unpublished research papers covering all historical periods, from prehistory and antiquity through the Middle Ages and the early modern period to modern and contemporary history, with a primary disciplinary focus on history, archaeology, and art history. In addition to scholarly articles based on relevant sources and contemporary theoretical and methodological approaches, the Journal also publishes other types of contributions, including reviews, book reviews, in memoriam notices, announcements, and similar materials. Although the Journal focuses primarily on Herzegovina as a historical and cultural region whose past is examined within broader regional and European contexts, its scope is not limited exclusively to topics directly related to Herzegovina. It also encompasses research on Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and the Adriatic region, Southeastern and Central Europe, as well as other areas that, during different historical periods, were connected with Herzegovina through political, social, economic, cultural, religious, demographic, or artistic ties. Comparative studies that examine historical processes, culture, and traditions associated with Herzegovina within broader regional, Mediterranean, and European contexts are particularly welcome. The Journal is also open to interdisciplinary research and contributions from other disciplines within the humanities when their topics, sources, research questions, or methodological approaches are related to the Journal’s principal areas of interest. In this way, Hercegovina. Journal of Cultural and Historical Heritage seeks to provide a forum for scholarly dialogue on the historical and cultural heritage of Herzegovina and related regions, while at the same time encouraging research that places local and regional topics within broader historiographical, archaeological, art-historical, and cultural contexts. Manuscripts may be submitted throughout the year by email to either of the Editorial Board’s addresses: hercegovina@ff.sum.ba or casopis.hercegovina@gmail.com. As a rule, submissions received by the end of February are considered for publication in the volume issued during that calendar year. In exceptional cases, manuscripts submitted after this deadline may also be considered. The Journal is indexed and abstracted in the following databases and platforms: Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL); EBSCO; European Reference Index for the Humanities and the Social Sciences (ERIH PLUS); Portal of Croatian Scientific and Professional Journals (Hrčak); Scopus; and Slavic Humanities Index (SLAVUS).
