Sažetak

As human beings, we went through different schools, faculties, trainings and seminars. Based on this experience, consciously or unconsciously, we all think that receiving knowled¬ge and learning is the best way (sometimes the only way) to develop organizational and personal skills on the expected level. Is this enough? Why do we act in such a way? Many companies underinvest in the development of their people due to different reasons, but also when investing many of them are concentrated on knowledge delivering, ad hoc events and not on people’s skills and their implementation. We can call this learning cultu¬re, but as a result of this, companies’ capabilities and learning culture are underdeveloped and they throw away more value than they realize. The learning culture of an organiza¬tion reflects the beliefs of the business and learning leaders about the role of learning and when, where, and how learning occurs. To secure better return of investment, better company results, employee satisfaction, their proper professional skills level, we need to change learning culture in a slightly positive direction. We start with identifying specific ca¬pabilities that can create most value. We are doing that by figuring out capabilities which have the greatest potential to contribute to a company’s potential and build employees’ skills. To support all learning projects, we need to embed them in their processes, systems and tools. In this paper, authors looked at the importance of creating and maintaining po¬sitive learning culture. Paper is based on the long author’s experience in development area and few international researches. We argue that strong culture is based on demonstrated expertise in learning theory and practice, a few core principles and robust and standardi¬zed process of development.
