Pastiche of the Tempest and Revolution: V. Pelevin's „The Crystal World“ and A. Blok's „The Twelve“

Sažetak
The spatial turn in humanities deals, among others, with the idea of heterotopia. Michel Foucault believes that heterotopia is a real place that consists of several spaces. This conceptualization of space is observable in Russian postmodernist literature, particularly in the works by Viktor Pelevin, whose texts often encompass several worlds that exist in a unique space. This article is dedicated to the analysis of space and spatiality in Victor Pelevin's short story „The Crystal World“. In doing so, we will examine the synecdochic nature and interrelations between objects and space, as well as the intertextual foundation of the story, based upon the poem „The Twelve“ by Alexander Blok. Furthermore, we will attempt to demonstrate that the citational nature of Pelevin's story is largely based upon the spatial dimension of Blok's poem, due to which „The Twelve“ is largely responsible for the comprehension and atmosphere of the tempest and revolution present in „The Crystal World“.
