Sažetak

Our country abounds in hunting grounds, which are the habitat of various species of game. As the game is the constituent part of nature, the management of the hunting grounds is an important and demanding task. Besides trophies of the game, venison is of special culinary importance. Nutritional advantages of game meat are highly valuable proteins and a low fat content. Because of the special importance of the game management procedures, it is indispensable to introduce adequate legislation; in particular those referring to the acceptability of meat of either killed or bred game. In affords to achieve optimum results, one should not forget that some planned regulations would be difficult to carry out and that they may reduce the desired aim. In connection to the aforementioned, this paper presents various aspects of the hunting grounds management issues, and especially those relative to the meat of killed game. It also contains suggestions based on considerations and experience with procedures applied to meat of killed game, the aim of which is to improve the legislation and practice in our hunting grounds.
