Sažetak
The aim of the paper is to determine whether the observation of changes in nature and critical reflection along with simulations of changes on Earth over time contribute to the understanding of the concept of global climate change in teaching Nature. The research was conducted in 2022. on a sample of 100 12-year old students. Based on materials for teaching and independent learning on the BUBO platform, students were guided through field research and data collection from older fellow citizens about changes in their environment over the past several decades, and learning with simulations of processes that lead to changes. By checking preconceptions, a misconception about the greenhouse effect as an extremely bad phenomenon and the opinion that climate change is only the result of anthropogenic influence was observed. The approach to teaching about climate change was based on comparing the positive and negative consequences of the greenhouse effect for the survival of life on Earth and how to distinguish between human influence on the climate and natural processes that can contribute to climate change. The results of the final written examination indicate progress in the understanding of phenomena and processes related to global warming and climate change, with the correction of misconceptions and a better connection of the observed changes at the local level with the processes taking place at the global level. Through learning, they have successfully become aware of the ways in which each student, and therefore each individual, can contribute to the slowing down of global climate change.
