Sažetak

Alternative didactic conceptions with their peculiarities have been researched and
questioned for many years. Various studies indicate that they contribute to the creation
of a stimulating spatial environment in the institutions where they are implemented.
The paper will establish the specifics of the Reggio and Montessori approaches, with a
special focus on the development of play and creativity, and the role of a stimulating
environment in the proximal development of the child. Didactic knowledge today
integratively proclaims the child’s actualization and proactivity in the process of learning
and development. In this regard, the aim of this paper is to position play and creativity
in Reggio and Montessori alternative approaches. Through different comparative
units, the specifics of these two concepts will be explained, and their mutual similarities
and differences will be pointed out. Special emphasis will be placed on highlighting the
contextual specificity of play and creativity, taking into account the principles of both
concepts that contribute to the development of creativity and creative potential in early
childhood. The mentioned alternative conceptions represent a search-answer process
for the proximal development of the child, and it will be shown how, with their didactic
specificities, these conceptions give an answer to the potential of creativity.
