Sažetak

The Black Slavonian Pig (fajferica) is an autochthonous Croatian pig created by Carl Pfeiffer on his property near Osijek, by planned crossing of swallow belly mangalica, Berkshire and Poland China breeds. It belongs to the group of semi-fat breeds. It is suitable for semi-intensive, extensive and organic keeping. It has very good meat quality, suitable for the production of traditional meat products (kulen, sausage, ham). Given that it was created by crossing breeds originating from European and Asian wild boar, it is the source of different genes and suitable for the biological diversity of the pig (sus) as a species and in general.
