Sažetak
Assessment approaches the student from different points of view through which various behaviour indicators are interpreted, in which it must be stressed that this does not simply include knowledge assessment at the end of the educational process. Formative assessment is an approach to assessment implemented into the educational process from start to finish. It aims to gather information about a student’s work and accomplishments throughout the educational process. Formative assessment does not result in a grade, but rather in continuous real-time feedback on a student’s knowledge and skills and helps control, monitor, and discover a student’s strengths. This paper aims to provide an overview of papers on formative assessment in the Republic of Croatia. Through the Portal of Electronic Resources for the Croatian Academic and Scientific Community, six papers dealing with formative evaluation were analysed. These papers point out that there have not been many studies on this topic, though teachers are familiar with this approach to assessment and are implementing it more and more in practice. A bigger volume of papers and courses on formative assessment would influence educational workers and in turn, result in the implementation of this approach and yield positive effects in students.
