Extracurricular sources of stress for biology and chemistry teachers

Sažetak
The paper presents the results of empirical research on how stressful certain situations in teaching are for teachers of both chemistry and biology in primary and secondary schools. The article presents teachers' attitudes to the sources of stress: parental pressure, evaluation of work by an educational counselor, pressure from principals and educators, evaluation of work by the NCVVO, and attitudes and behavior of other teachers. The research was conducted on 134 respondents in 2023, and the results were compared with a similar survey on 174 respondents in 2010. The research found that most teachers consider all these situations to be stressful and that compared to a similar survey in 2010, the level of stress has increased. Of the above situations, chemistry and biology teachers have the hardest time with parental pressure (67% of respondents chose this source as stressful or very tight). Pressure from principals and educational officials (53%) and educational advisors are equally stressful for 53% of respondents. The attitudes and behaviour of other teachers are stressful for 39% of respondents. Compared to 2010, this is an increase of 9% of respondents who consider this source stressful, 14% for the source of stress 'evaluation of work by educational counselors'. The number of respondents who are stressed by the pressure of the principal and the same number who are stressed by the pressure of their parents increased by 22%.
