ORNAMENTAL PLANT INVENTARIZATION IN INTERIORS OF SELECTED HOTEL-GASTRONIMIC OBJECTS IN THE CITY ZADAR REGION

Sažetak
The function of ornamental plants in interiors is multiple, but their choice is very limited because of ecological issues and the ability of maintenance and care. This problem is particularly stressed in public areas such as hotelgastronomic objects where the plants are used for decoration, and ability of care and maintenance are significantly limited because of the presence of the users themselves.
The aim of this study was to investigate which plant species are the most used, to evaluate the state of ornamental plants concerning their growth conditions in the interiors of chosen hotel-gastronomic objects of different categories and aesthetic value achieved.
Hotel-gastronomic objects, from city Zadar region, that were explored by this investigation were two hotels of different categories (3* and 4*), coffee bar and restaurant, casino and reception of one single tourist complex. After inventorying and data processing it was found out that the most common plant species is Ficus benjamina which seems to be the most resistible species. Also, some plant species are getting out of the use lately, and are replaced by ‘modern’ ones indicating that ‘interiorscaping’ by plants is under
the trend dictate. Growth conditions are different from one object to other, and the worst were in coffee bar. Plants have spatial functions in many of investigated objects and their aesthetic purpose was also taken in account.
