Abstract
This article briefly explains Ricoeur's understanding of hermeneutics of doubt and the hermeneutics of meaning, and their conflict. The dialectic of this conflict can be called hermeneutics of metanoia. The conversion (metanoia in Greek) is a certain inner understanding and does not belong only to the religious sphere, but enters in the corpus of reading the human world in general and the testimony of this world as open to possibilities. The reappropriation of symbolic language, in other words: the reestablishment of the meaning of words in the text and in the interpretation of the human world means to give to the human experience one new possibility of narrative self-understanding. The subject who has put himself in question so realizes himself with radicalism which transgresses Cartesian doubt of the wounded cogito.
