Abstract

The first decade of the 21 st century in the EU has been marked by the launch of the lifelong learning project. The paper analyses the concept of lifelong learning from the point of view of its realisation. Considering that Croatia plans to shape its future in the context of European integration processes, Croatian position in that respect is yet to be determined. The paper analyses the crucial role of the teacher in the realisation of the concept of lifelong learning through the prism of recent empirical research into lifelong teacher training, taking into account the status of the teaching profession in the modern Croatian society.
