TEACHING CONTENTS, LANGUAGE AND SKILLS, COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT OF PUPILS AS THE FACTORS OF MATHEMATICAL EDUCATION

Abstract
The paper deals with research results obtained by the survey on the primary school teachers' attitudes about pupils' acquaintance with mathematical contents, the level of development of the mathematical language and mathematical skills, the level of the cognitive development as well as the degree of development of mathematical features in pupils.
The research included the sample of 156 examinees, primary school teachers. It was conducted during the month of February, 2007.
The following results have been attained:
The examinees point out that: 1. the level of their pupils’ acquaintance with mathematical contents is of the satisfactory level (the average arithmetic mean is = 3.10); 2. the pupils' mathematical language is well developed ( = 3.01); 3. the mathematical skills of their pupils are well developed ( = 3.02) 4. the level of their cognitive development is satisfactory( = 3.03); 5. the qualitative feature (geometric type) is almost twice as much present as the quantitative one (algebraic type).
