Abstract

Wild boar is our autochthonous game species with constant increase in population number. The very population size is a key factor that determines the relation between humans and wild boars. For proper rearing of wild boars it is necessary to make certain changes in the existing rearing models, as well as to implement newest knowledge related to behaviour characteristics of this species. Proper hunting should follow all the above mentioned. Chemical composition of wild boar meat, especially of younger categories, determines it as of high quality and taste. Finally, regular monitoring of wild boar meat for trichinellosis is required.
