Abstract

Smart packaging is a newer type of packaging, evolving with the development of information technology. Such packaging uses sensors, indicators and data carriers placed on traditional packaging to provide information about the product. Smart packaging can also be used as meat packaging. Researchers are developing indicators and sensors that respond to changes in meat freshness and concentration of gases (O2 and CO2) inside the packaging, as well as record time and temperature. Although smart packaging is not widespread, it has shown great potential for future development and use.
