Abstract
Trends in the Foodstuff hygiene and technology as a constituent of the Veterinary public health in the Republic of Croatia in the next period have been determined by several essential factors. They primarily depend on the entire framework of accession of Croatia to the European Union through the harmonisation and supplementation of the existing legislation with the EU legislation and a compatible organisation of the veterinary service. The abovementioned regulations are only the beginning of implementation of the extensive regulatory and organisational changes in the field of protection of public health and consumers’ economical interest. That refers particularly to the veterinary regulations and the forthcoming organisation of the veterinary-sanitary control. In addition, the trends depend on all the factors conditioned by the mass food production for the market, education of veteri veterinary experts and their readiness to confront new risks for human and animal health, as well as on the entire attitude of the veterinary profession towards new scientific and professional challenges.
