Abstract

The author's intention was to find out when the basis for comprehension and adoption of pedagogical views and didactic teaching methods from the work of J. A. Komensky appears in Croatia and how it gains grounds. The author analyses the part of the subject-matter of the Croatian pedagogical textbooks and teaching-method handbooks of the second part of 19th century. The analyses of the textbook body questions some theses of the Croatian pedagogical history writing and identifies the works which have contributed to the Croatian knowledge about the life and peda-gogical views of J.A. Komensky. The author underlines the contributions of I. Filipović, F. Klaić, S. Novotny, V. Z. Mařík, M. Kobali, Lj. Modec, S. Basariček i A. Cvijić to the recognition of Komensky's ideas (specially of the course of object lessons) and he points out the need of a thorough and comparative research of their works just as well as their evaluation of the pedagogical system of Comenius.
