Historical Journal is a journal of the Society for Croatian History, formerly the Historical Society of Croatia. It is the oldest professional historical society in the Republic of Croatia, which has been operating continuously since 1947. The Historical Journal has been published continuously since 1948, when the first volume was published. For a long time, the Historical Journal was edited by Jaroslav Šidak (from 1948 to 1984). After Šidak editors of the journal were Ivan Kampuš and Ivica Prlender. From 2008 to 2022, Damir Agičić was at the head of the editorial board. Scientific articles in the Historical Journal go through the process of double review by experts from Croatia and from abroad.
