THE MILETIĆ NOBLE FAMILY AND THEIR COAT OF ARMS
ENVER LJUBOVIĆ
Sažetak
The author here describes the famous Senj Uskoks and the noble Miletić family originally from Vitez (in Bosnia and Herzegovina). There are two branches of this family, from Senj and Petrinja. Miletić had an important place in the town of Senj and were mostly outstanding soldiers, judges and priests. Some members of this family participated in delegations of Senj to the court in Vienna. The oldest note about this family was in the list of Senj military troops where officer Mihovil Miletić was mentioned with his monthly salary of 8 florins. Vid Miletić was a famous Senj judge and he signed famous declarations from 1698 against Senj’s noble family the Vukasovićs. The Second note about this family is on a stone relief coat of arms with the signature of Senj nobleman and Archdeacon Dominik Miletić from his grave stone monument in the Church of St. Francis in Senj. Alongside these mentioned Senj and Petrinja branches of this noble family, there is the commoner branch of Miletić from the Bunjevci tribe of Krmpoćani. They moved to Ledenice, Klenovica, Krmpote, Podgorje, Karlobag and Lika at the beginning of the 17th century, and they still live there today in large numbers.
