Abstracts School is a place where adolescents spend, after family time, most of their time and as such has a unique opportunity of having a strong and very important effect on the development of the individual. The goal of this thesis is to express literature views and researches that are dealing with examining the relationship of adolescents and school. School environment and the functioning of the school is an important aspect in the life of adolescents and way of functioning in school is an indicator of their functioning in other areas of life. The interest in school begins to weaken, for adolescents, in the final grades of elementary school, and the high school begin to change their attitude towards teachers, as well as expectations of them. Studies have systematically established a decreasing trend of all aspects of motivation for academic achievement with respect to age in both sexes. Furthermore, there is a decrease in orientation to learning, and an increased focus on the avoidance of effort over the years of schooling, in both sexes. How adolescents perceive school significantly depends on what kind of relationship teachers and adolescents have built. A teacher's professionalism, work and set up communication with the students, but also the personality characteristics of teachers has an influence on adolescents' motivation for learning, as well as on general their attitude toward school.
