Abstract

This paper presents the research procedure conducted through the oral history method by students of the eighth grade of elementary school on the selected subject-matter related to local history. The main learning objective was to identify changes and continuities in the lives of three generations of women in the 20th century, and to
observe the derived results in the context of a broader understanding of everyday life in society in the past and in the present. Such an approach allows for the realisation of the basic tasks of contemporary history teaching: the integration of skills with knowledge and understanding, critical thinking, and an active and direct relation
between students and the past. This approach also contributes to raising awareness of gender equality.
