Frontier, Threshold, Interface? Liminal and Trans-Border Cultural Dynamics in the Eastern Posavina During the Nineteenth Century

Sažetak
Borders limit the mobility of people, goods, and ideas–but do they inevitably inhibit development? Drawing on case studies from the Sava River Basin in the nineteenth century, this paper highlights instances where the liminal nature of places has contributed to the mobilization of resources in a culturally productive way. With a focus on works of architecture and the visual arts in three regions that now form part of Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia, it aims to identify interrelated events and developments.
